Abstract
This study aimed to evaluate the role of a panel of biomarkers, including TGF-β1, IL-6, mTOR, and total antioxidants, in the development of diabetic nephropathy, alongside traditional biochemical markers. The study included 100 participants: 50 patients with type 2 diabetes and 50 healthy individuals as a control group. The results showed elevated levels of HbA1c, creatinine, TGF-β1, IL-6, and mTOR in the patients compared to the healthy individuals, while albumin, antioxidant, and eGFR levels were decreased.
These findings suggest that increased TGF-β1 and mTOR, along with impaired antioxidant defenses, play a significant role in the development of diabetic nephropathy, and that elevated IL-6 contributes to the promotion of inflammation associated with the disease.
